Welcome to the website for MACRoCkumentary, a student-produced documentary of the 10th annual Mid-Atlantic College Radio Conference, held at James Madison University in April of 2006.

/// Abstract

MacRockumentary is a thirty-minute film that recreates the chaos of hosting a grassroots Indie-Rock conference in a rural Virginia college town.

Made up of vastly idiosyncratic elements including bands, fans and organizers, MACRoCk thrives on a careful synergy of youthful activism and self-possessed passion that has come to define the independent genre. Clashes between band members and setbacks in planning and production humanize the conference and show its vulnerabilities. Potential backlash from the community, venues and school administration show how MACRoCk, like any evolving organism, must endure despite the raw, unforgiving, unpredictability of nature.

We intend to make a film that furiously and stylishly documents the conference with a passionate and comprehensive grasp, as the camera's eye is the omnipresent tour guide. Establishing for fans their presence in the greater independent music community, we will show how intellectuals and whiskey-swilling metal-heads alike must work together despite disparate opinions, so that they may showcase their talents, be heard and have a hell of a time.
